ARKANSAS, USA — On Monday night, the Lake Hamilton School District announced that there will now be a new superintendent in charge of leading the district.
During their regularly scheduled meeting on December 16, the Lake Hamilton School District Board of Education voted unanimously to name Dr. Tony Thurman as the district's next superintendent.
Dr. Thurman will replace outgoing Superintendent Shawn Higginbotham and is set to assume his role on July 1, 2025, following the retirement of Superintendent Higginbotham.
In response to the news, Dr. Thurman expressed his gratitude and excitement about this new chapter in the following statement:
“I am truly honored and grateful to the Lake Hamilton Board of Education for the opportunity to lead this exceptional district. Lake Hamilton is recognized statewide for its excellence, and I look forward to continuing the important work already in place. I am eager to meet the dedicated faculty, staff, students, families, and community members who make Lake Hamilton so special. Together, we will foster a supportive, innovative, and empowering learning environment for all students. The best is yet to come!”
He will be the 15th superintendent since the district was founded back in 1945, bringing along a wealth of experience and an impressive record of achievement.
For anyone interested, a community meet & greet with Dr. Thurman will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in the Alumni Hall of the Wolf Arena during the Lake Hamilton vs. Lakeside basketball game.
