BURBANK, Calif. — We now have our first look at a new four-part Western epic from Kevin Costner.

Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for "Horizon: An American Saga" on Monday.

Costner directs and stars in "Horizon," planned as a four-part saga chronicling the expansion after the Civil War and settlement of the American West.

The first two chapters will be released in theaters nationwide this summer. The first on June 28, the second on Aug. 16.

Costner stars in "Horizon" alongside a sprawling cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Danny Huston, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Giovanni Ribisi and more.

"'Horizon: An American Saga' explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat and tears of many," Warner Bros. said in a statement. "Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America."

"Horizon" marks Costner's return to directing for the first time since "Open Range" in 2003. Costner's 1990 directing debut "Dances with Wolves" won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

The production of "Horizon" has impacted the production of television's most popular series "Yellowstone" over the past two years.

"Yellowstone" producers said Costner has made himself less available to film the TV show, while Costner's team has blamed "Yellowstone" script delays. It’s unclear whether Costner will return to film the second half of its fifth, and presumably, final season.
