Little Rock Edwards Food Giant employee tests positive for COVID-19

An employee at the Cantrell Road Edwards Food Giant tested positive for COVID-19.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — According to a statement posted by Edwards Food Giant on Facebook, an employee at the Cantrell Road Edwards Food Giant tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials say the store closed temporarily on Thursday out of an abundance of caution after they were notified about the positive test.

The employee has not worked or been in the store since April 10. Prior to April 10, the employee had also worn a face mask and gloves while at work.

The store communicated with top health officials at the Arkansas Department of Health, and it was indicated that since the employee has never had any COVID-19 symptoms, so there is very little risk of exposure.

All of the Edwards Food Giant team members at the store were notified and those who came in close contact with the employee were asked to self-quarantine at home.

“As we continue to respond to this ever-changing situation, Edwards Food Giant will continue to do whatever is necessary to safeguard the health and safety of our team members and customers and to serve the communities in which we live and work,” the statement said.

The store was professionally disinfected overnight and is now open for business.

Overnight, our store on Cantrell Road was given a DEEP clean in an effort to keep our Team Members and customers safe! The disinfectant used is EPA approved and completely safe. We look forward to seeing you today in the cleanest store in town!
