74 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Arkansas

As of Monday, the Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 1,475 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state with 427 recoveries from the illness.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As of Monday, the Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 1,475 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state.

The Arkansas Department of Health also confirmed the death toll of COVID-19 has reached 30.

According to the Secretary of Commerce Mike Preston, as of Friday, 132,000 people have filed for unemployment since Arkansas allowed easier access to apply during the coronavirus pandemic

Monday, April 13

7:10 p.m.:

The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed a total of 1,475 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state with 427 recoveries from the illness.

1:50 p.m.

Dr. Nate Smith breaks down the 1,410 cases of COVID-19:

  • 74 hospitalized
  • 28 on ventilators 
  • 30 total deaths

Dr. Smith confirmed in the 1,410 cases in Arkansas, there are 193 healthcare workers which include 58 that have recovered. 

Arkansas has increased in the total number of cases by 130 in the last 24 hours. This is the largest 24 hour update Arkansas has seen yet. 

Out of the 1,410 cases, 989 are active. 

1:30 p.m.

During a press conference, Gov. Hutchinson confirmed 1,410 positive COVID-19 cases and 30 total deaths throughout the state.

Gov. Hutchinson said there are also 55 positive COVID-19 cases at the federal correctional facility in Forrest City, Ark. 

Gov. Hutchinson said there's no indication that Arkansas has reached the peak yet. He said as you flatten the curve, that means an extension of the peak time period.

1:15 p.m.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, 43 of 46 inmates housed in the barracks of the Cummins Unit at the Arkansas Department of Corrections are positive for COVID-19. None of the inmates are symptomatic at this time. 

No staff tests have come back positive.To mitigate the spread of the virus, the barracks is under quarantine. 

9 a.m.

The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 1,398 positive COVID-19 cases and 29 deaths throughout the state.
