Little Rock police search for suspect after overnight officer-involved shooting

On Sunday, Feb. 17, at approximately 12:56 a.m., Officer Bryce Cobb, with the Little Rock Police Department, was on patrol in the area of 28th and Longcoy Street.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — UPDATE - Police arrested the suspect, 18-year-old Tyler Ashford, on Feb. 19.

On Sunday, Feb. 17, at approximately 12:56 a.m., Officer Bryce Cobb, with the Little Rock Police Department, was on patrol in the area of 28th and Longcoy Street.

Officer Cobb conducted a “subject stop” on an unknown male. During the contact, the subject started to flee from Officer Cobb. The subject produced a handgun and started shooting at Officer Cobb. 

Officer Cobb returned fire at the subject with his service weapon. 

The subject dropped his weapon and continued running. The subject was last seen running in a wooded area wearing dark clothing. A K-9 Unit later responded and was deployed to search the area, but the subject was not located.

Homicide Detectives and CSSU personnel responded to the scene. Detectives canvassed the area, while CSSU collected evidence.

Police said that were looking for 18-year-old Tyler Ashford as the suspect in the shooting.

Officer Bryce Cobb was hired as a Little Rock Police officer on Nov. 13, 2017. He has been placed on administrative leave.

This investigation is ongoing.
