2 arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into Arkansas jail

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested two people on Friday for trying to smuggle contraband into the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested two people after an investigation found they were attempting to "smuggle contraband" into the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Yasmine Dunlap and 43-year-old Andrew Harris attempted to smuggle the contraband into the jail on multiple occasions. They were taken into custody on Friday and charged with furnishing prohibited articles.

"This arrest, like others in the past, speaks to our commitment to the public in pursuing charges against those who threaten the security of our detention facilities," Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods said. "We have a zero-tolerance policy against contraband, and we will seek the maximum penalty possible for those who choose to ignore it and violate the law."

Both were assessed a $10,000 secured bond and are being held at the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center.
