LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Police crews started a new search for Ebby Steppach, who disappeared in October 2015. This three-day search started Tuesday morning at Chalamount Park in Little Rock.
Ebby's mother, Laurie Jernigan, hopes that this three day search brings her closure after 13 months of constant worrying.
“I'm praying today that they find her, so I can put her to rest,” said Jernigan.
“If they don't find her today that opens up a whole new world of what ifs." She said she hopes that it at least provides a step in the right direction.
Jernigan said that there's an answer out there, and she's determined to get it. A new team of investigators took over Ebby's case a few months ago, and this time they brought in resources all the way from Colorado.
Little Rock police brought in a bloodhound team and teamed up with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, hoping to find any clue in the mystery.
Jernigan still believes her daughter was taken, but police have reiterated that this is not a homicide investigation.
They're searching all wooded areas in Chalamount Park.
“Whatever the results are or aren't out here, I can put that avenue or that aspect of it to bed,” said Jernigan.
As for Jernigan, giving up isn't an option.
“You just can't stop, you just can't stop, I don't understand why people stop.”
