LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Agriculture announced that the Arkansas Unpaved Roads Program (AURP) will fund nine projects with a $558,756 grant.
The AURP funds projects that aim to reduce sediment and nutrients from entering streams, rivers, and lakes to maintain and improve water quality.
The following projects will receive funding this year:
- Arkansas County, Eldridge Road Project
- Independence County, Big Creek Road Project
- Lincoln County, Longview Road Project
- Pope County, Silex Road Project
- Scott County, Dooley Road Project
- Sevier County, Allen Road Project
- Sharp County, Bakers Cemetery Road
- Van Buren County, Brickey Road Project
- Yell County, Buckman Road
“Nearly 50 percent of all public roads in Arkansas are unpaved and this program is an essential tool to fund safe, efficient improvement projects while training road maintenance professionals on best management practices,” said Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward.
Since its start in 2015, the AURP has provided nearly $9 million in county, state, and federal funding for 64 projects in 25 counties.
