Multiple accidents cause traffic block on I-40 near Forrest City

​A major traffic blockage is impacting I-40 near Forrest City as multiple accidents have been reported along the interstate in the area.

FORREST CITY, Ark. — A major traffic blockage has been reported in Forrest City as Arkansas continues to deal with the impacts of recent winter weather. 

The blockage happened along I-40 in St. Francis County as three individual accidents were all reported in the same area. 

The first of the accidents happened near exit 239 and impacted eastbound lanes. The second accident happened a few exits down near exit 242, impacting all lanes of traffic. The final of the three accidents happened in the same area, near mile marker 242.1.

The interstate in the area is dealing with icy patches, which is causing issues for drivers.

This traffic block comes as winter weather continues to impact travel in Central Arkansas and other parts of the Natural State. 

The winter weather is impacting roads and highways throughout the entire state of Arkansas, with several instances of stalled vehicles and traffic accidents being reported.

According to Arkansas' traffic map, all roads and interstates have been impacted by the wintry mix in some way.
