JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- Thursday evening the Arkansas Highway Transportation Department held an open house to show drivers their plans on Highway 67 in Jacksonville between Main Street and Vandenburn Blvd.
They are going to replace the 4-lane highway with a 6-lane highway. AHTD hopes to start construction in 2019.
On the north and south side of the section, construction is already underway. The middle piece was delayed because of utility relocation.
The other sections are expected to be complete next year. They hope to have the new section complete by 2022.
AHTD and drivers said the area is growing and they have to grow with it. Comments are being accepted over the next 15 days.
It’s an $89 million project funded by half cent sales tax voters approved in 2012. For more information click here.
