LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It's been six years since April Harris was murdered outside of her apartment in North Little Rock.
She was taking her kids to school when police said a person in a ski mask jumped out of the bushes and shot April Harris and her 5-year-old daughter.
It's a story we've been following since that fatal morning on January 19, 2018, and it remains top of mind for the community.
Her sister, Amber Harris, spoke to us just days after April Harris' tragic death, questioning what happened.
"It hurts my soul," Amber Harris said in January 2018. "I can't breathe sometimes."
Every year, April Harris' family gets together on the anniversary of her death, but this year's weather made it difficult.
"We weren't able to get together, so we've been texting each other all day and FaceTiming each other," Tammie Fleming said.
Fleming is April Harris' mother, and she said there's no day she's not thinking about her daughter.
"I often think about what April is doing right now," Fleming said.
April Harris' daughter was injured, and the rest of her kids are alive and well today, but they are still looking for answers.
"I would never in a million years think that we would still be trying to find out who murdered April Harris," Fleming said.
Police said that even after six years, there were no new leads and no persons of interest.
But that doesn't stop April Harris' family from keeping her spirit alive as they cherish every moment together.
"We make it a point every day to say, 'Good morning, I love you,'" Fleming said.
Anyone with information about who killed April Harris is asked to call the Pulaski County's Criminal Investigations Division at (501) 340-6963 or anonymously call the Pulaski County Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (501) 340-8477.
