Arkansas businesses ready to cash in on Super Bowl hype

Some restaurants and bakeries are experiencing a high demand for Super Bowl orders, including one business selling Taylor Swift-themed cookies.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Whether you're staying in or going out to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday, You'll likely be surrounded by good food and company.

Local businesses are experiencing a boom in orders and are already experiencing that a few days ahead of the big game.

"It's definitely bigger," Community Bakery Co-owner John Brandenberger said.

Brandenberger said there's an increase in sales this week compared to past Super Bowl weeks.

"Awesome time to be alive in the baking industry," Brandenberger said.

According to Brandenberger, Valentine's Day and Mardi Gras are also contributing factors, but also a blonde singer who has been to many Chiefs games this season.

"What's been significantly big volume for us are our Taylor Swift cookies," Brandenberger said.

The Taylor Swift-themed cookies are the best-selling out of all Community Bakery's Super Bowl-themed cookies.

It's been a lot of fun for our team to assemble these," Brandenberger said. "For scale, five to one are ordering Taylor Swift Super Bowl cookies over traditional Super Bowl cookies. We've never had that happen before, so that's a big deal."

Brandenberger said he even had to extend the pre-order deadline because of their popularity.

"It's a holiday, and that's why it's so impactful for restaurants and bakeries," Brandenberger said.

Certified Pies has also stayed busy with Super Bowl orders, as Co-Owner Samantha Stewart said they've experienced a much different week with the big game on the horizon.

"People have started fairly early," Stewart said. "We open it up Monday for pre-orders, and I mean, we've probably at least got a good handful, 10 or so that have already got their order in and set their pickup time."

Stewart expects to see even more as the week goes on.

"We're excited to be able to do more and serve more customers for the Super Bowl," Stewart said.

Being in a new space this year, Stewart looks forward to serving her customers that support local.

"It means the world to us," Stewart said. "We don't grow our business without the support of customers."

Certified Pies and Community Bakery are taking pre-orders until Friday night.
