How to stay safe on Arkansas roads while celebrating New Year's Eve

A couple of local companies are providing services to ensure you don't have to drive if you drink on New Year's Eve.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The New Year's celebrations will kick off this weekend, and while they are meant to be fun, law enforcement looks for people who drink and drive every year.

While authorities hope this year will be different, they're still preparing for the worst.

"Two drinks for you may be fine, but two for somebody else could be complete impairment," Pulaski County Deputy Travis Browning said.

Browning said that when you drink alcohol, you lose different motor function skills and the ability to multitask, making using a turn signal or breaking more difficult when driving.

"There are some choices," JHook Towing General Manager Tim Moody said. "You can drive drunk and have a wreck and kill yourself or kill somebody or go to jail."

JHook Towing is making sure you have another choice — one that will hopefully keep you and those around you safe this holiday season.

A tow truck will pick you and your vehicle up for free during the night of New Year's Eve and Monday morning. You can call them at 501-955-2400, and they will meet you at your location.

Additionally, the Rainwater Holt & Sexton law firm is providing $50 dollar vouchers for free Uber rides home, which can be used between 11 a.m. and 3 a.m. on New Year's Eve in Little Rock.
