LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A partnership event between Little Rock Central and Arkansas Cinema Society will be happening later this week, as part of the celebration of the 67th anniversary of Central High School's monumental desegregation and of the Little Rock Nine in 1957.
The special program will be held at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The program will showcase both the life and the legacy of Emmett Till, a young African American man whose tragic death in 1955 was a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement.
During the program, there will be a conversation with Keith Beauchamp, who is the acclaimed film producer of the feature film Till, which was released in 2022. He is also the director of the documentary, The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till.
Beauchamp is an award-winning filmmaker who attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. Years later, he founded Till Freedom Come Productions, which is a company devoted to socially significant projects that aim to not only teach but entertain as well.
He has dedicated nearly three decades to telling the story of Emmett Till, and the truth surrounding his story. Beauchamp's work also played an important role in the reopening of the case decades later.
The event aims to help people learn about history. It also aims to connect people with the past to help better understand the present and inspire positive change for the future.
