LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Department of Health and Louisville, Kentucky-based Kindred Healthcare Inc. have announced the completion of the sale of the department's in-home health care operations for $39 million.
Completion of the sale was announced Monday.
The state announced last August it was phasing out the program that provides in-home services to about 3,380 people.
Kindred will retain all current employees in the program and serve all current patients. Including the home health and hospice services the company previously provided in Arkansas, Kindred now provides in-home healthcare services in 72 of the state's 75 counties.
State officials previously said financial constraints and competition from the private sector are reasons for phasing out the program.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson has said the money from the sale will go toward the state reserve fund.
