CONWAY, Ark. — A quaint flower stand in Conway has been gaining attention thanks to its cool concept— purchases are made through an honor system.
The Dewlittle Farm Stand sits on the edge of Courtney Dewey's property and is open to anyone who wants a bouquet of budding beauty.
"Since our last name is Dewey, and we've got three littles, I just gave it a fun name," said Dewey, creator of Dewlittle Farm Stand.
The flower arrangements are handpicked and come in fun and unique containers, such as mason jars, coke bottles, sundae glasses, or anything the owner can find.
"There has been lots of support from our community and I love that,” Dewey said.
According to Dewey, this was her first year running the stand, and she was surprised by how quickly it blossomed in popularity.
She explained that the idea for the stand was born out of restlessness as a stay-at-home mom.
"I learned really quickly about myself that I need something to do and something to keep me busy,” she described.
Once she came up with the idea and believed she could do it, Dewlittle Farm Stand was born.
"My husband found some scrap wood and built this,” Dewey said. “We just popped it here at the end of the driveway to make pick up a little bit easier for people."
While the location makes it convenient for people to enjoy whenever they want, it also makes things easier on Dewey.
"It's easy. I don't have to be down here managing it and people can stop by when they want to,” she explained.
Customers can pay in cash by leaving it on a box alongside the arrangements or via links to Dewey's Venmo and PayPal displayed on the stand.
“If they have cash, they just drop it in the box and I’ll come down here every evening and grab it,” Dewey said. “People seem to like it, and everyone has been honest, we have a good community."
If someone wants an arrangement, they can stop by the stand in person or visit their Facebook page to see what's available.
"When it's out at the stand, first come first serve, and when it's gone, it's gone,” Dewey said. “I put it out as I have it, but on my Facebook page that's where I'll say the stand is open.”
What started as a hobby now allows Dewey to be a part of customers' lives and engage in the community while still staying close to the ones she loves the most.
"It's just fun and neat to be a part of that for somebody else and to stay home and raise my babies this helps me get to do that,” Dewey added.
As for what’s next, Dewey said her plans tend to be large.
“My next adventure is a mobile flower bar,” Dewey said. “The Dewlittle Farm Stand works perfect for our season of life right now, but I do plan on doing a mobile flower truck or flower stand."
Typically, the flower arrangement costs anywhere from $5-$10. Pumpkins are currently priced at $4.
As flower season will soon come to an end because of the cold weather, Dewey expects to have plenty of Christmas items available soon.
