Arkansas guard Keyon Menifield cleared to play this season

The NCAA granted Arkansas sophomore guard Keyon Menifield a waiver, and he can start playing immediately.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas sophomore guard Keyon Menifield was granted a waiver by the NCAA on Thursday, making him immediately eligible to play.

Menifield, a transfer from Washington, was initially designated as a non-scholarship redshirt to start the season. However, his eligibility was restored following the end of the Fall academic semester on Dec. 15.

"It has been a long process that we had to work through, but we are excited for Keyon and are proud of how he handled the process," Arkansas head coach Eric Musselman said. "Our staff and administration have worked hard to get this done and we appreciate their hard work. Keyon is an explosive point guard with great play-making ability."

Menifield, 6-1, 170 pounds, chose Arkansas over Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State and Louisville in April.

Last season, Menifield played in all 32 games, averaging 10 points and 3.1 assists to earn a spot on the PAC-12 All-Freshman team. His 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio led all freshmen in the conference.

Arkansas (6-4) battles Lipscomb (7-5) on Saturday at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock. Coverage begins at 5:00 p.m. Central on SEC Network Plus.
