Former Utah RB Ja'Quinden Jackson transfers to Arkansas

Running back Ja'Quinden Jackson is joining the Razorbacks after leading Utah in carries and rushing yards this past season.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas's running back room gained a little more experience on Friday when former Utah running back Ja'Quinden Jackson announced his transfer to Fayetteville.

This past season, Jackson appeared in 12 games and made 11 starts for the Utes, posting a team-high 161 carries for 797 yards and four touchdowns while adding nine catches for 53 yards.

Jackson posted a career-best 26 carries for 117 yards in Utah's 34-32 victory over No. 18 USC on Oct. 21.

Despite being a sophomore, Jackson brings a veteran presence to the Hogs and has experience playing running back, quarterback and special teams.

In his three-year stint at Utah, Jackson played in 28 total games, averaged 5.5 yards per carry and finished with five 100-yard rushing games.

Before Utah, Jackson was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, where he was an All-American and first-team all-state selection at Duncanville High School (Texas)

He led the Panthers to two consecutive state title games in the state's largest classification and finished his senior season as the No. 2 overall recruit in Texas by ESPN.

Jackson was a true freshman at Texas in 2020, but didn't see any action.
