ST JOE, Ark. — A homicide investigation is currently underway after an Arkansas woman was found deceased earlier this week.

According to reports, Searcy County officers were called to conduct a welfare check at a home in St. Joe, Arkansas after 75-year-old Jeffrey Stansbery had allegedly told staff at a Branson, Missouri hospital that he had harmed his wife.

Officers then went to the home to investigate and found 43-year-old Amanda Stansbery deceased inside the house.

The Searcy County Sheriff's Office then requested the help of the Arkansas State Police  Criminal Investigations Division to help with the homicide investigation.

As a part of the investigation, Jeffrey Stansbery was charged with felony capital murder and felony abuse of a corpse.

He is now being held in Branson as he awaits extradition back to Searcy County.
