NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas National Guard shipped more than 25,300 ready-to-eat meals to help feed Hurricane Helene victims in Georgia.

According to the Arkansas National Guard, a Georgia Air National Guard C-130J cargo aircraft picked up 10 pallets of ready-to-eat meals from the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville.

Each pallet contained 48 cases of ready-to-eat meals, and each case contained 12 meals.

“When disasters hit, our motto is people first, paperwork later,” Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said. “When our fellow Americans are in need, Arkansans lend a hand.”

In a separate shipment, 34 pallets of ready-to-eat meals were shipped by commercial truck from Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Barling, Ark., to Georgia.

“Arkansas has a proud history of helping our neighboring states in their time of need,” Arkansas’s adjutant general Brig. Gen. Chad Bridges said. “Hurricane Helene has uprooted people’s lives in the region, but we stand with them. And we stand with our National Guard brothers and sisters as they heroically help their neighbors recover and put their lives back together after this horrible natural disaster. The Arkansas National Guard stands ready to help and be prepared to be always ready, always there.”

The Arkansas National Guard said the ready-to-eat meals are a "self-contained ration consisting of a full meal packed in a flexible meal bag." They are designed to sustain an individual engaged in heavy activity, such as military training or during actual military operations when regular food service facilities are not available
