Joint operation by Arkansas officers leads to 245 arrests

After a joint operation by police earlier this week to remove both wanted and repeat offenders from Arkansas streets, more than 200 arrests were made.

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — After performing in a joint operation earlier this week to remove both wanted and repeat offenders from the streets of Eastern Arkansas, law enforcement officers in the state made a total of 245 arrests. 

Arkansas State Police contributed 27 of their troopers to a total of 55 officers who were in the Crittenden County streets to try and reduce crimes within the area. They made the more than two hundred arrests during a span of just eight hours.

There was a total of 449 "officer violation contacts" that were made including:

  • 75 criminal
  • 20 speeding
  • 13 DWI
  • 2 safety belt
  • 2 child restraint
  • 20 other hazardous arrests
  • 113 non-hazardous arrests

The rest of the officer violation contacts made were for various kinds of warnings. 

The officers also collected eight firearms, as well as many different illegal narcotics including marijuana and crack cocaine.

Arkansas State Police Colonel Mike Hagar explained how operations such as this one help make Arkansas a much safer place for everyone. 

“Arkansas State Police will not hesitate to step up with our partner law enforcement agencies in communities that sorely need our support,” he added.

Members of the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force and the cities of Marion and West Memphis worked alongside Arkansas State Police in making the arrests.
