JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State is resuming normal operations Saturday after authorities investigated an overnight bomb threat against the Dean B. Ellis Library and the Reng Student Union.

According to the university, police and K-9 units cleared the buildings and issued an "all clear" around 10 a.m. Central.

"In the name of campus safety, we take these threats very seriously," Arkansas State University said on Facebook. "Thanks to University Police, Jonesboro Police and K-9 Unit, the Craighead County Sheriff's Office, and the Counter Terrorism Unit for their quick response time this morning."

Arkansas State University said the Jonesboro E-911 center has received an "unusually high number" of swatting reports over the last week.

Swatting is when someone makes a prank call to emergency services to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.
