JONESBORO, Ark. — The Arkansas State Athletics Department unveiled an official Red Wolves-themed craft beer on Friday!
The department shared this week that the specialty drink comes as part of an agreement with Soul & Spirits Brewery of Memphis, Tennessee — together the two plan to launch "Howlin' Red Wolves Pilsner," which will be the official craft beer for A-State.
"We're not only excited to announce Howlin' Red Wolves Pilsner as our official Craft Beer, but also proud that it uses ingredients produced in the state of Arkansas and was created by a brewery owned and operated by Arkansas State University alumni and supporters," said Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Jeff Purinton.
According to the athletics department, the Howlin' Red Wolves Pilsner is a 4.3% ABV beverage that uses homegrown rice alongside traditional pilsner malt to create the specialty drink.
The beer will be available at the university's football, basketball, and baseball games beginning on August 31, when the Red Wolves take on UCA for their home and season-opening kickoff this season.
Following the kickoff, the beer will also be available at various stores and restaurants around northeast Arkansas, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Red Wolves Foundation.
