Water issues plague several Arkansas towns after winter weather

Several Arkansas towns are being asked to conserve water due to lingering impacts of winter weather and cold temperatures.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — Several Arkansas towns are being plagued with water issues and are being asked to conserve water due to the lingering impacts of winter weather and cold temperatures.

As it stands, here are the areas in Arkansas that are being asked to conserve water:

  • Helena West Helena
  • Pine Bluff
  • Stone County
  • Pangburn
  • Arkadelphia
  • Bald Knob

Of the locations listed, Helena West Helena issuing an order to citizens on the west side of the town telling them to avoid using water at all. This means that citizens aren't able to follow the guidelines of a boil order.

According to reports, those in the area without water are concerned about potential pipes bursting if they're unable to run any water at all.

For those in Pine Bluff, Liberty Utilities Central is asking customers to voluntarily conserve water through Monday, Jan. 22.

They shared that their water system is stable, but emphasized that faucets should be turned off when temperatures are above freezing.

The same thing is being asked of customers in Arkadelphia and Pangburn, with the cities looking for methods to conserve water supply.

Some other ways that the city of Arkadelphia is suggesting to save water include taking shorter showers, turning off the sink while washing dishes, and limiting the usage of sprinklers and other irrigation systems.

Other areas like Bald Knob are currently under a boil order until further notice as water volume in tanks remain low. They're also asking people to conserve water.

We will update this article if more cities are asked to conserve water.
