LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A big transaction in the e-commerce world is happening here in Arkansas.
John James, the founder of Hayseed Ventures, bought back one of his original business creations, Scrub Shopper, for a “seven-figure amount.”
Scrub Shopper, an online store that sells medical apparel, was under Acumen Brands, the online retail company James founded in 2009.
James stepped down as Acumen CEO and opened Hayseed Ventures in the Old Post Office in downtown Fayetteville in 2015. Hayseed partners with startups to help them become successful businesses. James said buying Scrub Shopper gives Hayseed a profitable existing company as a building block for Hayseed's growth.
James plans to revitalize Scrub Shopper. He said his goal is to become the largest reseller of scrubs in the world.
Looking to banking, there's a new face at the Arkansas Bankers Association.
Barry Jackson has been hired as senior vice president and chief operating officer of the association, which lobbies government on behalf of Arkansas banks.
Jackson has more than 14 years of banking experience. Most recently he was vice president and product manager for Simmons First National Bank.
And finally, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville is lending a hand to the international art community. The museum has loaned Georgia O'Keeffe's painting, Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1, to the Tate Modern in London for what's being called the biggest O'Keeffe exhibition ever in Britain.
Crystal Bridges, founded by Wal-Mart heiress Alice Walton, bought the 1932 painting from Sotheby's in 2014 for $44 million — more than three times the previous record for a work by a woman.
The Tate exhibition runs from July to October and will feature more than 100 O'Keeffe works. It's the first major exhibition at the Tate after a $394 million expansion.
