Pine Bluff police locate armed and dangerous man wanted for shooting

The Pine Bluff Police Department has now arrested an armed and dangerous 26-year-old man for his involvement in a shooting that happened at Central Park.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Update: Mr. Herrien has now been arrested and booked into the Jefferson County jail.

The Pine Bluff Police Department is searching for an armed and dangerous man wanted for his involvement in a shooting that happened on January 20.

According to reports, just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, officers were called to Central Park on Hickory Street with reports of a shooting. 

Once they arrived they found an 18-year-old who had been shot in his right lower leg. The young man stated that he and a group of people had gone to the park because allegedly people had been trying to fight his sister. He then said that when they arrived at the park, someone started shooting.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have named 26-year-old Alexander Cortez Herrien as a suspect and he is wanted in connection to the shooting on charges of first-degree battery, possession of firearms by certain persons, and aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Herrien is to be considered armed and dangerous. Police report that an AR-style rifle was used in the incident. He is described as being 6'2" in height and weighing 230 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
