State police arrest man in possession of functional explosive

Arkansas State Police arrested a 36-year-old man from Michigan on October 27 after discovering a functioning explosive device in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

CONWAY, Ark. — Arkansas State Police arrested a man from Michigan on October 27 after discovering a functioning explosive device in his possession.

According to reports, officials stopped a gray 2020 Chevrolet Suburban on I-40 eastbound for a traffic violation. 

A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana, a mushroom candy bar, illegal prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, multiple social security and identification cards, and a metallic cylinder resembling a CO2 cartridge, with a 1-foot-long fuse. 

Multiple bomb squad technicians were called to the scene, where they confirmed that the device was a functional explosive.

The team transported it to another location where it was safely disassembled.

36-year-old Jeremy Lee Henry of Taylor, Michigan, was arrested and charged with criminal use of a prohibited weapon, second-degree criminal impersonation, DWI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations. He also had an escape warrant out of Tennessee.
