FORT SMITH, Ark. — Arkansas State Police (ASP) arrested a wanted Fort Smith man after conducting a PIT maneuver on North 34th Street on Sept. 23.

According to ASP, 28-year-old Dylan Anderson was wanted by the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office for an outstanding drug warrant. The 12th and 21st Judicial Tash Force requested ASP's assistance in finding and arresting Anderson.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, troopers spotted the suspect driving a green Chevrolet Cruze on Grand Avenue near North 32nd Street. When troopers tried to conduct a traffic stop, Anderson fled east on Kinkead Avenue.

Troopers initiated a PIT maneuver (precision immobilization technique), which ASP referred to as a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI), causing Anderson to crash his vehicle in the 600 block of North 34th Street.

While being pursued, ASP said Anderson threw a bag from his vehicle. The bag reportedly contained over 100 fentanyl pills, mushrooms, illegal marijuana, and 1.5 pounds of meth.

After Anderson was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital, he was transported to the Sebastian County Detention Center.

Anderson faces the following charges:

  • Trafficking a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Fleeing
  • Driving on a suspended license
  • Parole violation
  • Reckless driving
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Littering
  • First-degree criminal mischief

He is being held on an $11,850 bond, according to the Sebastian County booking.
