Nationwide AT&T outage impacting Arkansans

A major cell phone outage is impacting people here in Arkansas and all across the country. Here's what we know so far.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Tens of thousands of AT&T customers are currently being impacted by a nationwide service outage, with many reporting that their cell phones can't make calls or connect to the internet.

According to the website Downdetector, the issues spiked around 3 a.m. local time.

Some customers have reported that texting still works for them, however, AT&T hasn't stated when these problems should be fixed.

FirstNet, AT&T's network for first responders, was reportedly down for about two hours but is now back online.

Callers with connectivity issues have been asked to use landlines or the wi-fi calling feature whenever possible.

Many customers appear to still have access to "SOS mode", which allows users without regular service to call 911 in an emergency.

However, if 911 is inaccessible, residents in these cities have been asked to call the following numbers:

  • Little Rock: (501) 371-4829
  • North Little Rock: (501) 340-5446
  • Other areas of Pulaski County: (501) 340-6963

We checked with the Little Rock and North Little Rock fire departments, and both confirmed that their emergency radios are not on AT&T service and haven't been impacted.

However, some emergency service departments have stated that you can message them on Facebook or use a non-AT&T phone to contact them if you need assistance.

Also, ProMed Ambulance said they're watching other networks that could be impacted as channels become overloaded.

Verizon, T-Mobile, and Cricket Wireless customers have also reported some network outages.
