Bear spotted in Little Rock neighborhood | What to know

A black bear was spotted in Little Rock on Monday, much to the shock of a local Facebook user who captured the sighting on video.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A black bear was spotted in Little Rock on Monday, much to the shock of Nichole McClinton who captured the sighting on video.

McClinton uploaded a video of the bear trotting along Rodney Parham near the Leawood neighborhood.

While the bear spotting may come as a surprise to some in the city, Arkansas Game and Fish (AGFC) said that something like this actually isn't that uncommon.

"We’ve had several sightings of bears in the city over the years. They mostly follow the river and it’s time for the yearlings to leave the den and mom,” AGFC said in response to Monday's sighting.

As for what comes next? AGFC said they're deciding whether to search for the bear or just leave it be since it appears to be unbothered.

Officials also say that you should leave the bear alone and do not feed it under any circumstances.
