Bomb threat cleared at UAPB, lockdown lifted

The University of Pine Bluff campus was placed on lockdown after officials were notified of a bomb threat on campus on June 24.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Update: The UAPB campus has been cleared to resume normal academic and business operations. 

After physical and K-9 searches of the premises, officials found no suspicious items or individuals.

Campus police have increased their security measures following the threat and will continue working with local, state, and federal law enforcement to keep the campus safe.

The UAPB Public Safety Department was notified of a bomb threat on campus around 7 a.m. on June 24.

Campus officials have been working with federal, state, and local authorities to search every campus building for suspicious items or individuals.

The university will remain closed to the public until the search is complete. Until the campus is cleared, all business operations will remain remote.

Access onto and off campus has been limited and is currently being controlled by campus police.

The university is taking additional steps to make eating arrangements for all students in residential facilities. 

Parents with students in any summer programs are asked to contact campus police at (870) 575-8102 for updates or to schedule a pick-up time.

UAPB Public Safety will continue providing updates to campus administrators and the community via the Campus Bulletin and by RAVE Alerts.
