MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) – Former middleweight professional boxer Jermain Taylor was arrested by Maumelle police on Tuesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Lily Drive around 2:41 a.m. regarding a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the woman involved in the dispute and Taylor.
The woman reported that Taylor had attacked her as the couple was arguing. She also stated that he had attempted to damage her cell phone so she couldn’t call 911, and then bit her several times.
She stated that she was able to get away from Taylor for a brief period and attempted to run out of the residence, but Taylor tried to stop her so she pepper sprayed him in the face and was able to escape the home. She reported that Taylor chased her down the street threatening to kill her.
Officers were able to see bite marks on the woman. Taylor was arrested and is charged with third degree battery, first degree terroristic threatening and first degree interference with emergency communication.
Taylor was transported to Maumelle Police headquarters and later released on criminal citations. He was last arrested in May of 2015 after allegedly hitting someone at the Oasis Renewal Center where he was staying at the time.
