LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Several people have taken to social media to share their experiences of getting their cars broken into at parks in Central Arkansas.
"You feel violated," Doris Krain said.
That's how Doris Krain felt after she discovered her car got broken into near the Big Dam Bridge in early December.
"It was like one o'clock 1:30 or something," Karin said. "We left the car and walked over the bridge."
Krain said she hid her purse and locked her doors, but that didn't stop the thieves.
"They broke in anyway and broke the window," Krain said.
Little Rock Police Department said the car break-ins at parks are all linked to the same group of people.
"They did get a couple of credit cards and a little bit of cash but they didn't take anything else," Krain said. "They were just looking for credit cards."
Krain said she's thankful her credit card company alerted her when the thieves tried to use her cards at Walmart shortly after.
"They wanted to know if I had charged $2,500 at Walmart," Krain said. "It was fraud alerts, so they didn't allow those charges to go through."
According to LRPD, it's the same group of people getting arrested for these break-ins, but they are all getting probation.
The Department's Public Information Officer also said the thieves are using stolen credit cards to buy gift cards through self-checkout at larger stores.
Krain said she doesn't know who broke into her car and is hesitant to go back for a walk near the bridge.
"All it does is keep people from wanting to do that," Krain said. "That's a shame."
Police said these thefts could be prevented if you take all valuables out of your car, grab your keys and lock your doors.
According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, they've received nine reports of car break-ins at Two Rivers Park since October.
They also plan to increase patrols.
