Police: Five Arkansas elementary students charged after making school threats

Bryant police have now charged five elementary-aged students after threats were made against several employees and students at Parkway Elementary School.

BRYANT, Ark. — After threats were made against several school employees and students at Parkway Elementary School, the Bryant Police Department has since charged five students in connection to those threats.

For the past several weeks, there have been multiple potential threats at various schools in Central Arkansas. Superintendents for several school districts have even called parents to help in addressing these concerns over school threats with their students.

Bryant police shared that after a thorough investigation which consisted of interviews with students, thoroughly looking into social media posts, and coordinating with school officials they were able to identify and charge the students behind the threats at Parkway.

The five students involved ranged in age from 10 to 11 years old and they were all charged with communicating a false alarm, terroristic threatening, harassing communications, and threatening to commit acts of mass violence on school property.

Police are also asking for parents to talk to their children about the seriousness of making threats. Not only can they be disruptive to the school day, but they are also illegal and can lead to serious and legal consequences.
