Burn bans in effect in Arkansas

Long periods without rainfall have created dry and hazardous conditions in some counties across the Natural State, prompting officials to issue burn bans.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As August continues to heat up in the Natural State, long stretches without rainfall have created dry and hazardous conditions in some counties.

Officials have started placing burn bans in effect for the time being. Outdoor burning may be permitted under special circumstances only and with a written permit from the local office of emergency management.

Counties with burn bans currently in place include:

  • Bradley County
  • Chicot County
  • Independence County
  • Jefferson County
  • Lincoln County 
  • Miller County
  • Ouachita County
  • Prairie County
  • Sevier County
  • Union County
