CABOT, Ark. — According to reports, a Cabot man has been arrested following an investigation into a potential rape and production of child sexual abuse material.
During the investigation, Cabot police and the Arkansas State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force determined that these offenses occurred in Cabot city limits.
With assistance from Homeland Security, officials executed a search warrant at a residence on Cedarwood Drive.
Detectives performed a forensic preview of a device seized from the home and located twenty images of child sexual abuse material.
40-year-old Mitchell Best was taken into custody for rape of a minor, 1st-degree sexual assault, seven counts of producing sexual performance of a child, and twenty counts of distributing viewing matter depicting sexual conduct involving a child.
This investigation is currently ongoing and could result in additional charges against Mr. Best.
