CABOT, Ark. — Great news for those who have been looking for ways to keep themselves or their kids active this summer— the perfect solution may have just opened in Cabot.
It’s called "Game Time at the Grounds." This massive sports facility is just phase one of the city’s plan to upgrade its parks and recreation program.
The sports facility opened earlier this month after the City of Cabot voted for it back in 2021.
The staff at Game Time likes to say, "If you can play it indoors, you can find it here."
This new state-of-the-art facility offers basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer, and even batting cages.
Director of Cabot’s Parks and Rec Department, Travis Young, explained how the facility won’t just be fun for the people of Cabot but it could also benefit the city’s economy.
“Tournament-wise, we've already got over 30 events booked here over the next 12 months,” Young said. “And with that, we're bringing teams from all over regional play.”
The facility sits right next to a BMX track, and these two locations together are part of "The Grounds" which is a larger park that the city is building.
The Parks and Rec Department is planning to add several locations to The Grounds, including an outdoor skatepark and even running and walking trails.
“It’s a development and this is phase one of this,” Young said.
In the meantime, Young explained that kids, or kids at heart, can enjoy Game Time’s facilities all summer.
“We're going to have camps, clinics, it's open free play,” he said. “It's a $ 5-day pass, you can come in, you get to stay all day.”
According to their website, they plan to have all their new attractions open by spring 2025.
