HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Eat It Up crew traveled back to Hot Springs for the second straight week to try some American cuisine that will leave you feeling heart-healthy at Cafe 1217— along with some desserts that are so good they'll make you want to jump into Lake Hamilton!
Owner Ron Harris bought the restaurant nearly a decade ago.
“A young chef by the name of Diana Bratton came to Hot Springs with a credit card and a dream. Against all odds, she created Cafe 1217,” he explained.
In his own words, Ron decided his job wasn’t as fun or fulfilling as it used to be at age 57. So, he decided to buy a business! Cafe 1217's menu is not only unique, but it's always evolving.
"On the first Monday of every month, you have a new menu for about 60% of the menu. So that’s pretty interesting and keeps our customers excited," Ron added.
He takes pride in all of his dishes, but maybe the biggest hit currently is the burger.
“A friend of mine grows this wagyu Angus beef here in Garland County. He said 'Hey Ron you should try this beef', so we tried it and the burgers have been a big success,” he said.
If you're looking for a delicious dessert, you've also come to the right place! The carrot cake is some of the best not only in Garland County, but in Arkansas as well. Ron would put it up against any carrot cake customers have ever tried.
