FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The leaves are still green, and the weather is still warm, but crews in Northwest Arkansas have already started hanging Christmas lights up.

On Oct. 2, the City of Bentonville and the City of Fayetteville both announced that preparation had already begun for this year's much anticipated Christmas light showcases and parades.

"Miles and miles of holiday lights are going up in Downtown Bentonville… one GIANT strand at a time. The official Lighting of the Square celebration is Saturday, November 23," the City of Bentonville announced on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville's Lighting Night will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, and the Lights of the Ozarks Parade will be on Dec. 5.

"Parks Maintenance crews have begun the process of installing the Lights of the Ozarks on Fayetteville's Historic Downtown Square," the City of Fayetteville said on social media. "Each year, city crews install more than 500,000 LED lights around the square for the holiday season."

While still months away, the crews will be working to ensure that lights are ready in time for the festivities, and other nearby cities are soon to join them in the early decorating.
