HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The city of Hot Springs has settled a $300,000 federal discrimination lawsuit filed by a former employee of the city's solid waste department.
The Sentinel-Record (http://bit.ly/2lXmeGP) reports the settlement was reached on Monday.
Margaret Hillistad filed the lawsuit against Deputy City Manager Bill Burrough, City Clerk Lance Spicer, Solid Waste Director Randy Atkinson and Information Systems Director Jeff Winter September 2015.
The lawsuit alleges that Hillstad was passed over for a director position that went to Atkinson as a result of a sexual harassment claim she reported against Burrough in 2014.
In November, the city also settled a related lawsuit filed by Bill Boyles. Boyles received over $91,000 to drop his claim that he was fired from the solid waste department for supporting Hillistad's allegations against Burrough.
Hot Springs will pay both settlements from its solid waste fund.
