CONWAY, Ark. — On Tuesday, the City of Conway celebrated the grand opening of their brand-new Conway Emergency Shelter.
The shelter's opening signifies an important step toward being able to provide sanctuary, support, and resources to help the homeless population in Conway be able to get back on their feet.
The concept for the shelter first began in 2017 with the collaboration of the Conway Homeless Taskforce which was brought together by Mayor Bart Castleberry.
The task force consists of city officials and local nonprofit organizations who work with the homeless community on a daily basis.
The new shelter is meant to symbolize the city's shared commitment to caring for the people in the city and is located at 111 Gum Street.
