Conway police officer investigating accident gets hit by vehicle

The Conway Police Department says the officer was investigating an accident in the parking lot of Golden Corral when an uninvolved vehicle hit him.

CONWAY, Ark. — Update: The Conway Police Department said the injured officer is expected to make a full recovery and will be released from the hospital later tonight.

A Conway police officer is in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while investigating an accident Wednesday.

The Conway Police Department said several officers were investigating an accident in the parking lot of the Golden Corral at 814 East Oak Street when an uninvolved vehicle "entered the parking lot at a high rate of speed and struck one of the officers and a vehicle."

According to authorities, the officer who was hit was transported to a Little Rock hospital, where his condition is unknown.

"Please keep the injured officer in your thoughts," the Conway Police Department said in a social media post.

The Conway Police Department said there's an increased police presence in the area, but no traffic lanes are blocked at this time.
