CONWAY, Ark. — The Conway Police Department SWAT and negotiations team were called to the 600 block of Second Street for a burglary in progress on Tuesday night.
According to reports, when officers arrived at the scene they met with a neighbor who was on the phone with the homeowner who was not home at the time.
The owner stated that the cameras inside the house captured multiple 'subjects' inside the home. Officers were keeping watch on all sides of the house and the homeowner informed police that the people inside moved furniture in front of all points of entry and that some had hidden in various locations.
This was when police decided that they should use the SWAT team to resolve the situation. Negotiators attempted to communicate with the people inside via a megaphone system but there was no response. After several other attempts to make contact were unsuccessful, the SWAT team then made their way into the home.
The house was searched and they did not find anyone inside the home at that time.
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we will update with more information as soon as it becomes available.
