LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A historic event will be celebrated at Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium this Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, to honor the legacy of the state's largest military memorial, which is celebrating its 75th year.
“Corvettes and Veterans", is being held to coincide with the observance of Veterans Day, a day formerly known as Armistice Day, to honor American veterans of all wars.
The event will include a parade of custom military-styled corvettes and other vehicles, an official salute and ceremony with the presentation of colors, special performances of state-wide high school junior ROTC teams, historical military displays from Camp Joseph T. Robinson, other educational displays, and food vendors for visitors to enjoy.
War Memorial Stadium was originally built to serve as a "living, breathing war memorial" for future generations to come together and honor all of those who served in World War I and World War II.
In the words of the late Gov. Sid McMath in a personal 1999 interview, War Memorial is “a stadium that should be preserved as a monument to the first and second… well, ALL our wars!”
