PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Pine Bluff four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield announced he was decommitting from Arkansas Saturday morning.
The announcement delivers a blow to Arkansas's 2024 recruiting class as Crutchfield, 6-2, 175 pounds, is the top-ranked player in the state and the No. 11 recruit nationally, according to 247Sports.
"After thorough thinking and praying, I have decided to re-open my recruitment and de-commit from the University of Arkansas," Crutchfield said on social media. "You get one recruitment process and I want to take the time to carefully consider all of my options without restriction. I have the utmost respect for the Arkansas staff and appreciate them for everything. I have been blessed with several opportunities to play football and continue my education at some great universities. I hope that everyone will respect my decision as I do what is best for me and my family."
Crutchfield verbally committed to Arkansas on April 21 and recently helped the Zebras win the 5A-Central championship with a 20-7 victory over Joe T. Robinson.
He has over 700 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
Pine Bluff hosts Nettleton in the first round of the Class 5A high school football playoffs on Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. Central.
