Entergy Arkansas customers to receive one-time bill credit | What to know

Entergy customers in Arkansas will soon be getting a break on their August electric bills in the form of a one-time bill credit.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Summer is in full swing, and while we haven't had much relief from the extreme heat, Entergy customers in Arkansas will soon be getting a break on their August electric bills.

Residential customers will be receiving a one-time bill credit of about $78, which is a decrease of nearly 63% for a residential customer that uses 1,000 kwh. Commercial and industrial customers will also be getting a one-time bill credit.

Small General Service customers will be getting a credit of about $221, meanwhile, Large General Service customers will be given a credit of approximately $12,158.

The bill credit only applies to current Entergy Arkansas customers who began their service in December 2023 or earlier. It will be applied in August and it coincides with the July energy consumption as it is typically one of the highest months of energy usage.

“We work hard each day to provide reliable and affordable energy by keeping our costs as low as possible for our customers,” said Ventrell Thompson, vice president of Customer Service for Entergy Arkansas. “We know that higher costs for groceries and other everyday living expenses can be tough for some of our customers, especially during the summer months. We are pleased that the timing of these bill credits will allow our customers to spend their money on other needs, such as back-to-school shopping.”

The credit is known as the "Grand Gulf Bill Credit" and it stems from a lawsuit settlement between the Arkansas Public Service Commission and System Energy Resources Inc.
