Three Fayetteville officers awarded for actions during fatal shooting Officer Carr

The three officers were given the Chief's Award of Valor after their actions during the fatal shooting of Officer Stephen Carr on December 7.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville Police Chief Mike Reynolds has awarded three police officers with the Chief's Award of Valor after their actions during the fatal shooting of Officer Stephen Carr.

The award was given to Sgt. James Jennings, Cpl. Seay Floyd, and Ofc. Natalie Eucce for "acting in an extraordinarily brave manner."

Carr was shot and killed by 35-year-old London Phillips on December 7. Phillips shot Carr 10 times in the head before trying to run from the scene.

Phillips died after exchanging gunfire near the police department.

Both Eucce and Floyd's actions were justified and were cleared of any criminal charges in the shooting death of Phillips, according to an internal investigation by the police department.

"These officers demonstrated a great degree of selflessness, personal courage, and devotion to duty in the most critical of situations," Reynolds said in a Facebook post on the department's page.
