Former Ark. governor and senator David Pryor suffers stroke

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Former Arkansas Governor and United States Senator, David Pryor, is recovering after having a stroke.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Former Arkansas Governor and United States Senator, David Pryor, is recovering after having a stroke.

His family said the 82-year-old had a stroke Monday and the surgery has gone well.

The Democratic governor served from 1975 to 1979, then served nearly 20 years in the U.S. Senate.

He now serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Arkansas.

U.S. Senator John Boozman issued a statement saying, "Cathy and I are praying for his full and speedy recovery and encourage every Arkansan to keep the Pryor family in their thoughts and prayers."
