LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A former El Dorado mayor has now been arrested on a theft charge.

According to reports, in October 2023, former El Dorado Mayor Veronica Creer allegedly closed out the bank account for the El Dorado Crime Stoppers, where she had previously been a board member.

She reportedly withdrew about $23,544 from the account via a cashier's check and a few months later redirected that check to a different nonprofit.

Reports show that she had no longer been a member of the board for over eight years, however, she was still listed as a signatory on the bank account for the organization. Her decision to withdraw the money had not been approved by anyone other than herself.

After a thorough investigation, Creer was arrested and charged with one count of theft of property, which is a class C felony.

Creer reportedly served as mayor of El Dorado from 2018 to 2022.

Her case will soon be presented in a Union County court.
