Former Arkansas police chief arrested

After a months-long investigation, a former police chief with the Kensett Police Department has been arrested.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A former police chief in Kensett, Ark., was arrested by the Arkansas State Police on Tuesday and is facing criminal charges stemming from a months-long investigation.

According to reports, ASP took John Pollard into custody on charges of theft of more than $25,000 and abuse of office, Class B felonies.

Authorities said Pollard was terminated from the Kensett Police Department during the investigation in late February. The investigation revealed that Pollard "stole approximately $73,000 in city funds by falsifying drug confiscation reports and personal timesheets and by using city credit cards for personal use."

ASP said that while arresting Pollard, agents recovered items reported missing from KPD's evidence room.

Pollard was transported to the White County Detention Center, where his bond is $100,000.
